PREVENTIVE MEASURES – How to Keep Cockroaches out of Your Home.
Now that you have accomplished depriving the roaches of their
necessities, they will leave your house and find another that can
sustain their needs. But your job doesn’t end here. The more important
task you should do is to prevent them from coming back. Thus, you can do
some preventive measures using the same insecticides you used to remove
them, but in a different approach.
- Baits- you can place baits in the areas where the roaches used to
thrive, just to ensure that they are not coming back. If they do come
back, they’d pick on the bait and get poisoned. Not only that, once the
roaches find the bait, they’d call everyone else to check it out, and
since they have to taste it, all of them will die. Baits are cheap and
effective, and they last for a few months too.
-
Sprays- anti-roach sprays come in two forms: residual sprays, which
act as anti-roach repellants, and killer sprays, which leave no residual
effects. Before getting and using a spray, make sure that all the dishes
and utensils are kept in safe places, as spray can be very poisonous.
- Boric acid. Boric acid, or simply borax, is a low-toxic material used
for pest control. It is readily available in hardware stores and are
sprinkled in places where roaches are known to hang around. While it is
not really toxic, boric acid can be irritating to the eyes and mouth, so
better be careful.
